Mechanical Design Engineer
Design, prototype, and test novel rotating machinery for energy-efficient cooling systems. Lead core technology development in a startup environment, utilizing SolidWorks/Onshape, FEA/CFD, and hands-on testing.
Responsibilities
- Lead development of core rotating machine technology
- Design mechanical components and assemblies in SolidWorks/Onshape
- Create production drawings and BOMs
- Plan and execute tests, collect DAQ data, and iterate designs
- Analyze failures, document changes and results
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized institution
- Several years of practical mechanical design experience
- High proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Onshape including models, assemblies, drawings, BOM
- Ability to work independently in a startup with high responsibility and fast pace
- Capability to decompose complex problems into simple practical tests
Nice to have
- Experience with positive displacement rotating machines: compressors, pumps, hydraulic or internal combustion engines
- Python programming for machine interfacing and/or industrial controller programming
- Experience with cooling systems, HVAC, heat/mass transfer, pressure/flow or two-phase systems
- Experience designing test rigs and DAQ data acquisition from sensors
- FEA/CFD analysis, strength, flow, and heat transfer calculations
