Staff Software Engineer
High-impact individual contributor role focused on building next-generation automation and high-reliability systems for Linux security products. Combine deep backend engineering with technical product ownership. Work across full lifecycle from discovery to production using AI-assisted development.
Responsibilities
- Own major product components and engineering workstreams from discovery through production.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to gather and translate business and technical requirements.
- Turn ambiguous product objectives into clear technical plans, milestones, and engineering tasks.
- Design scalable architectures and make technical decisions for high-impact product areas.
- Build, review, test, and maintain production-grade software with focus on reliability, security, and performance.
- Take end-to-end responsibility for delivered components in production, including troubleshooting and optimization.
- Monitor progress and proactively communicate achievements, blockers, and risks.
- Research emerging technologies and competing solutions to inform technical decisions.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering efficiency.
- Contribute to engineering quality through design reviews, mentorship, and best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience taking ownership of significant technical projects from conception through production.
- Strong hands-on backend engineering experience with Python.
- Strong Linux background and practical understanding of Linux-based systems.
- Ability to read, understand, and review C code.
- Strong system design and architectural skills, with ability to implement solutions.
- Experience gathering and refining requirements and translating business needs into technical plans.
- Demonstrated technical product ownership.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and drive complex initiatives.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate technical decisions, progress, risks, dependencies, and blockers.
- Regular experience using AI-assisted development tools as part of software engineering workflow.
- Ability to balance immediate delivery with long-term scalability, maintainability, security, and extensibility.
