Join an AI engineering team building scalable backend infrastructure, APIs, agent systems, and clinical integrations for AI-powered virtual care.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain scalable backend services for AI agent execution and orchestration.
- Develop AI agent systems for complex operational workflows using LangChain, LangGraph, LiteLLM, and Langfuse.
- Orchestrate hybrid model stacks combining commercial APIs with self-hosted and fine-tuned LLMs.
- Build and maintain integrations with clinical systems using FHIR and EMR standards.
- Drive observability and reliability with OpenTelemetry, Datadog, and Langfuse.
- Design GraphQL and REST APIs, background workers, and event-driven systems.
- Collaborate with data science, machine learning, product, and engineering teams to deploy AI features.
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.
Requirements
- 6+ years of backend engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in more than one major programming language, such as Python, Java, Go, Rust, or Kotlin.
- Understanding of AI systems architecture, AI agents, LLMs, or inference pipelines.
- Experience building and scaling backend APIs, microservices, and background jobs.
- Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design, data modeling, and query optimization.
- Experience with message brokers and distributed systems.
- Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
Nice to have
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or Node.js/NestJS.
- Experience with clinical systems and healthcare data standards such as FHIR and EMR/EHR.
- Experience with AI agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or LiteLLM.
- Experience orchestrating commercial and self-hosted or fine-tuned LLMs.
- Familiarity with Langfuse and OpenTelemetry for AI observability.
