Lead an engineering team building 4G/5G mobile core network components including MME, AMF, SGW, PGW, HSS, UPF. Hybrid role based in Tel Aviv, reporting to VP R&D, with ~50% hands-on development and responsibilities including architecture, design, coding, testing, production, and driving AI-assisted engineering best practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead an engineering team building core components for 4G/5G networks (MME, AMF, SGW, PGW, HSS, UPF)
- Manage architecture, design, coding, testing, and production deployment
- Drive AI-assisted engineering practices across the team
- Establish best practices for code reviews and automated testing
- Improve engineering velocity without compromising quality
- Report to VP R&D and combine technical leadership with people management
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Mobile Core / Telecom development
- Strong hands-on experience with 4G/5G Mobile Core components (MME, AMF, SGW, PGW, HSS, UPF)
- Strong development experience in Java and/or C
- Previous experience as a Tech Lead / Team Lead
- Solid understanding of 3GPP protocols (GTP, Diameter, PFCP, S1AP/NGAP, NAS)
- Experience designing complex distributed systems
- Strong ability to independently research, learn, and implement new technologies
- Excellent English communication skills
- Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools
Nice to have
- Experience with VoLTE, VoNR, Cell Broadcast, Lawful Interception
- Technologies such as Kafka, MongoDB, Couchbase, ELK
- Cloud platforms including AWS or GCP
