As Backend Engineering Lead, you'll define the technical vision and standards for a large-scale backend chapter, mentoring 50+ engineers. You'll drive architecture for cloud-native microservices, event-driven systems, and CI/CD pipelines in a fintech environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the backend chapter and set engineering standards for over 50 engineers.
- Define and promote backend development best practices and architectural guidelines.
- Partner with architects and leaders on strategic technical decisions.
- Design and review scalable, cloud-native backend services using Microservices and Event-Driven architectures.
- Mentor engineers and foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development.
- Lead cross-team technical initiatives and knowledge sharing.
- Evaluate emerging technologies to improve platforms and developer productivity.
- Support critical production issues and provide technical leadership for complex initiatives.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience with large-scale systems.
- Proven technical leadership across multiple teams or organizational units.
- Background in fintech or startup environments building financial products.
- Deep expertise in Java and modern backend development.
- Extensive experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, Microservices, scalability, resiliency.
- Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.
- Hands-on AWS cloud services experience.
- Experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Passion for mentoring and driving technical excellence.
