Senior Software Engineer needed for a remote contract role to design, build, and scale AI infrastructure. Responsibilities include developing production-grade systems, APIs, and data pipelines for AI training and deployment, collaborating with ML engineers and researchers.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop production-grade software systems for AI training, evaluation, and deployment pipelines.
- Write clean, well-tested, performant code in Python, TypeScript, or other modern languages.
- Build and optimize APIs, data pipelines, and backend services at scale.
- Architect solutions balancing speed and maintainability.
- Troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including ML engineers and researchers.
- Participate in code reviews and engineering best practices.
- Work independently with ownership on scoped projects.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern language (Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, etc.).
- Solid understanding of software architecture and system design.
- Experience building backend services, APIs, or data-intensive applications.
- Comfortable with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerized environments.
- Familiar with Git, CI/CD, and modern tooling.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written communication for async collaboration.
- Self-directed and reliable.
Nice to have
- Experience with ML/AI infrastructure (training pipelines, model serving, etc.).
- Familiarity with large-scale data processing tools (Spark, Kafka, Airflow).
- Background in distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven design.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi) or Kubernetes.
- Contributions to open-source projects or public portfolio.
- Previous remote-first or async-heavy experience.
