Director of Product Design
Lead a 12-person product design organization spanning core products, new business lines, and internal products. Manage two team leaders, partner with product and executive leadership, and strengthen design practices, systems, AI-enabled workflows, and measurable business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the product design group across core products, new business lines, and internal products
- Manage, mentor, and develop two team leaders
- Establish forums, reporting, metrics, and operating rituals that bring design into strategic prioritization
- Raise design quality by moving teams from ticket execution toward problem definition and options
- Own the design system as operational infrastructure
- Improve design-to-code workflows, component visibility, and token migration
- Evaluate opportunities for AI-assisted design execution and workflow redesign
- Connect major design decisions to KPIs, measurement plans, and baselines
- Calibrate process to problem risk, complexity, and team familiarity
- Partner closely with the CPO, product managers, researchers, and executive leadership
Requirements
- Director or VP-level experience managing managers and leading through team leaders
- Proven ability to establish design influence with executive leadership
- Strong business literacy and ability to connect design decisions to KPIs, baselines, and measurable outcomes
- Experience developing designers and managing performance with clear expectations
- Experience building AI into a real workflow, including evaluating failures and discontinued approaches
- Current, informed perspective on design craft and tooling
- Excellent written and verbal English
