Play a key role in building and evolving the internal design system. Develop high-quality, reusable components using React, TypeScript, and CSS. Drive adoption across product teams, ensure WCAG compliance, and optimize performance. Collaborate with designers in Figma and maintain Storybook as the source of truth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality, reusable code using CSS, HTML, TypeScript, and React
- Implement modern CSS custom properties for dynamic light/dark theming
- Drive development and adoption of the Design System across multiple products and engineering teams
- Partner with Product Designers to translate Figma variables and design tokens into production-ready styling tokens
- Architect robust, predictable component APIs using headless UI composition patterns
- Ensure all components meet WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA standards (ARIA, focus states, keyboard navigation)
- Maintain Storybook as the interactive source of truth for component usage and guidelines
- Assist with migration strategies and deprecating legacy elements
- Maintain code quality with unit testing and automated visual regression testing
- Structure clean TypeScript types for optimization with AI coding assistants
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of front-end development experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience contributing to or maintaining a shared component library
- Strong production experience with React (v17+) and deep knowledge of hooks, context, and rendering optimization
- Solid grasp of component-driven design and headless UI concepts (e.g., Radix UI, React Aria)
- Deep hands-on experience with Vite for building projects and Storybook for documenting components
- Practical knowledge of building fully accessible elements following ARIA and WCAG standards
- Clear visual sense and experience collaborating with designers in Figma
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work with designers and engineers
Nice to have
- Experience using developer-facing Figma features (Code Connect, Dev Mode, REST API)
- Familiarity with GitHub Actions for automation
- Experience creating CLI helpers, styling utilities, or codemods
- Regular use of AI-assisted coding tools for prototyping and testing
- Passion for creating developer-friendly tools and improving workflows
