Responsabilidades

  • Lead casting strategy, meetings, auditions, and in-season casting changes for main-stage and other productions
  • Contract leading and featured artists, conductors, directors, choreographers, chorus members, understudies, and other artists
  • Oversee contracting activities delegated to artistic planning staff
  • Lead future-season production planning, calendars, scenario documents, and project tracking
  • Advise senior artistic leadership on repertoire, music matters, artists, and programming
  • Plan artists and repertoire for concerts, galas, and season announcement events
  • Supervise the Manager of Artistic Planning and casting consultants
  • Prepare and oversee artistic planning budgets and season expenses
  • Participate in senior management and strategic company decisions
  • Maintain artist scheduling and casting communications with internal and external stakeholders
  • Review artist information in marketing materials for accuracy and collective bargaining compliance
  • Prepare season timings, opera overviews, pronunciation guides, and AGMA Schedule C proposals
  • Research and scout artists, build relationships with artist representatives, and attend rehearsals
  • Support artists, resolve service issues, identify artistic concerns, and mentor artistic administrators
  • Serve as management representative for selected performances and auditions
  • Work arrangement: on-site in Chicago, Illinois, with occasional national and international travel
  • Full-time, exempt position with an annual salary of $160,000–$170,000

Requisitos

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field
  • More than 10 years of artistic administration experience, including at least 5 years of managerial experience
  • Advanced knowledge of operatic repertoire and voices
  • Significant experience with opera contract negotiations
  • Excellent judgment, analytical ability, communication, and organizational skills
  • Availability for evening and weekend performances, rehearsals, and events
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally to see performances and auditions

  • Artist management experience as an alternative to artistic administration experience
